Hello, Summer! ☀️ A Fun Summer-Themed Weather Activity You Can Do at Home
Hi everyone!
It’s Zoey from Lululala English, and I’m so excited to share something fun with you today.
This July, we’ve got tons of summer-themed activities lined up for you and your little ones. And today, I’m going to walk you through one of my favorites—it’s called “Hello, Summer!”, and it’s all about exploring summer weather through English play.
What You’ll Need 🎨
Before we begin, here’s what you’ll need:-
A weather-themed coloring worksheet
-
Crayons, markers, or any coloring tools you like
The worksheet I designed is available on the lululala English website, but you can also find free options online by searching for “weather coloring worksheet” on Google. Just choose whatever works for you!
Step 1: Chat About the Weather ☁️
Start with a simple conversation about summer weather. You might ask your child:
-
“What’s summer like?”
-
“What was the weather like today?”
-
“What kind of weather do you like?”
This helps warm up their thinking and gets them ready to talk about the worksheet in English.
Step 2: Explore the Worksheet Together 🖍
Take a look at the worksheet and talk about the pictures. Ask questions like:
-
“What’s the weather like today?”
-
“Is it hot or cold in summer?” → It’s hot!
-
“What’s your favorite kind of weather?” → Oh, you like rainy days!
-
“Do you like sunny days or rainy days better?” → So you like sunny days better, huh?
Step 3: Talk About the Pictures 🌤
Point to a picture and ask:
-
“Look at this picture! What’s this?” → It’s the sun! It’s a cloud!
-
“What’s the sun doing?” → It’s smiling!
-
“What’s the cloud doing?” → It’s blowing wind!
-
“Whoa, that looks like a tornado!”
These kinds of playful questions keep the conversation going in English and spark your child’s curiosity.
Step 4: Time to Color! 🎉
Now comes the best part—coloring!
Ask questions to keep things interactive:
-
“Which one do you want to use—crayons or markers?”
-
“What color do you want to use for the sun?”
-
“Which one do you want to color first?”
And don’t forget to sprinkle in encouragement:
-
I like the pink sun! Everything will be pink!
-
Well done!
-
Perfect!
-
You did a great job!
-
Nice work!
Wrap-Up 💛
This simple activity is a fun way to:
-
Practice everyday English expressions
-
Talk about the seasons
-
Support your child’s creativity and language learning—all while having a blast together!
Give it a try, and let me know how it goes in the comments below or tag @lululalaeng on Instagram if you share your coloring fun online!
See you next time for more joyful English play,
– Zoey 🌼
